How wonderful! The Thomas Jefferson Hour, one of my favorite radio shows, also has a podcast available. I found it from searching podcasts.yahoo.com
Podcasts are awesome - they run while you are doing other work, just like I listen to TJH when I drive. It's a great way to multi-task.
Libraries can use podcasts for many purposes: author talks, storytime songs, "How To Do" various things from catalog functions to staff trainings.

Guster - Jesus on the Radio (Acoustic) live in Providence
This is one of my favorite bands. Take a listen.
YouTube - LoveYou!
I love YouTube!
I was unaware of some of the features, such as the Channels and "most viewed" menus. They also have a 'display' button so you can choose how you want to view the hordes of videos to choose from. Very nice.
I don't like the random weird / inappropriate videos you may come across because someone has mis-tagged, either by accident or on purpose. Parents should always monitor their child's internet time.
The SRP Team is holding a Teen Video Contest, which stemmed from an idea to post on YouTube. We will see where this contest goes in the future. This year we are requiring a DVD - maybe next year we can go digital.

Flickr mashups
The number of mashups is mind blowing.
I especially enjoy this one - Color Fields.
Color makes me happy.

Flickr & tagging
Tagging folksonomy allows Flickr users to tags photos with terms that others like themselves would use. It works well. Flickr has other tools too - organizers, maps(!), privacy settings. Photos can be posted by various methods, including sending them by cell phone. Really wild.
I think the Salon article summed it up with these thoughts: "All this cross-pollination of ideas and images has emergent off-line social implications as well...The result is nothing less dramatic than subtle changes in the way friends, family members and even strangers participate in each other's lives."

Flickr
Flickr is fun and quite a time spender. I just found a picture of my old boss! Hello Mr. Chan!
It's a great tool - for instance see how this photographer organized photos of Dean Street by address - easy to search.
Here is a photo of my old library -
The Chatham Square Regional Library in Chinatown

And here is my old apartment on Dean St. in Brooklyn

And just look at this nice one of the old neighborhood
(now in demolition - see www.dddb.net)

Web Award Winners
I think this was the coolest! http://www.programmableweb.com/
There is so much out on the web that I didn't know about. I really dig the off-the-wall maps that someone has taken the time to create (mashup). This is a chance for others to share their secret hobbies and interests in full. I can't wait to explore this site further.
The web awards are the best of the best. I spent some time on http://www.onesentence.org/ which is 'an experiment in brevity.' It was easy to search, since folks had added those magic tags to their posts. Very useful! A library could apply this idea for brief book reviews.
