30 Things all done
I was surprised that I didn't like MySpace and other social networking more - it's just not for me. I think if I were younger I would like it better? It just bothers me to share so much personal information with strangers. I didn't know I was such a fuddy-duddy.
I thought the Web 2.0 "theory" articles that we read were very interesting, about how the web has changed (from Web 1.0 days, which is where I was before this training) and how Web 2.0 is changing the way we gather and use information.
How to improve this program? I would definitely keep the YouTube clips. I'm a visual learner.
I like the way this program was organized, and I really appreciate the extension on time. Kudos for being flexible with our busy schedules.
If I could change 1 thing, I would assign us to look at other's blogs earlier than Thing 29. I didn't realize how boring mine was until I looked at my peers!
Would I participate in another training like this? If it was as organized and relevant as this - yes.

Thing 29 - The Learning 2.0 experience
This Learning 2.0 experience has been good. I have whined a bit here and there, but it's only because I'm out of touch with learning new things that are beyond my range of understanding!
It was really more of an enlightenment - there is so much that others are doing out on the web that I was totally ignorant of. I thank Cindy Hart for organizing this training and 'pulling the taffy' of our minds.
My favorite activities of this training have been:
Flickr - fun to explore and so well organized that I could easily take a quick trip down memory lane in old NYC.
YouTube - such random clips that I found myself looking at kitten videos at home. Kittens! My husband thought I was turning into a nerd.
Podcasts - I am excited to explore NPR's podcasts and catch up on all my radio shows (another nerd activity).
How has this training affected my learning goals?
It has definitely made me more comfortable with the new tools available online (that so many of our patrons already know about!). I would like to continue using some of them.

Rollyo
I created a Rollyo account but don't know how this site organizes itself or how others search for my tags - But it definitely saves time. I'm just frustrated trying to figure it out, that's all. I guess that means my old, tired mind is stretching.
Here is my search rollbar for Kids Crafts.
I can definitely see a potential for this with children in public and school libraries! Students can search through approved, safe sites for homework, research, etc.
A few years ago, I remember a school librarian who created his own web page with specific (safe) sites for students to research for a specific topic. Rollyo has done the same thing, only much easier and accessible for everyone.

Library Thing
See some of my favorite books
Library Thing has a lot of features - choosing your own book covers, adding reviews, joining groups, etc. in order to meet others with similar book tastes, which is a very good thing, indeed!
I already belong to Good Reads and keep in touch with my old co-workers / NYPL Children's Librarians pals. We are "friends" so we keep up with what the other is reading. I am much more apt to take a recommendation from them, since I know them personally. Here are my pals-

Rebecca, Chrissy, & me - we used to rock the library world up in Washington Heights!

Online Image Generators
Who are all the people in this crazy, busy world who have time to create these generators? Again, this just shows me how out-of-touch I have become with the application of technologies and the Internet.
Unfortunately I could not design my own tarot card or mockingbird song (that durn Websense!), but I could still become a paparazzi @ Smile!
(this is Summer and me at ALA '06 in New Orleans)
and who doesn't want to learn to talk like R2D2?

Podcasts again
I was bummed that the podcasts from Denver Public could not be downloaded from staff computers - I was looking forward to experiencing a storytime podcast. I don't know what I think of this, so I wanted to explore the option.
The Library Channel from Arizona State has a separate link for podcasts only, which is important and efficient. Again, many of the podcasts were blocked by Websense.
